On [XXX], my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover HSE Td6 diesel (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered a complete, catastrophic engine failure without warning at approximately 70 mph on [XXX] . The local dealer was contacted and confirmed the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. 

The fuel tank shield has rusted completely through exposing the tank to damage, puncture, etc. The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and it’s given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place.

The fuel tank protective shield underneath my vehicle has severely rusted and corroded, with visible perforations forming through the metal (photos attached). Loss of all driving power. Gave fail code of Battery fail. We relpaced the battwry and still didnt work. Then were told we needed to replace the alternator. Replaced alternator and still failed. Now being told that we need to replace the dc dc converter...we have paid for the part but that part is on back order and we have now been without a vehicle for 6 months
